International Skills Training Camp

7 day International Hockey Academy with European players & coaches.  Daily activities:

  • 2 ice sessions

  • 2-3 hours on ice training

  • Dryland training session

  • Off ice stickhandling session

  • Classroom sessions

  • X-games (see below)

  • Athletic lunch provided by local professional team food services
     

Tournament - Planet Hockey/European Friendship Format

 

  • 2 mixed bench games with EIK Denmark Teams.  

  • 2 hours of 3 v 3 cross-ice games with mixed Planet Hockey & EIK Denmark teams

  • Skills Competition:  represent your team/country.

  • Photos following each event

  • Points awarded for each win, goaltender victory and during skills competition event

  • Top players on each team receive awards

  • X-Games (Xtreme Games) - Players will be divided into teams comprised of players from different countries and will compete in fun, competitive, friendship-building athletic events.  Get to know your new International hockey buddies while playing:  floorball, handball, soccer, flag football, baseball, dodgeball and more.

  • Hosted and organized by Esbjerg Ishockey Klub of Denmark (EIK).

  • Awards to top players in each division.

  • Special host family authentic Danish dinner.

  • Final Day BBQ Party with all teams.

  • Half day touring event to Ribe, Denmark with all tour participants (players, coaches and family members)

  • ICEP (International Coaches Education Program) - All coaches from all teams/countries will participate in the annual ICEP, consisting of classroom sessions, meetings, socials, training materials exchange, off ice training and on ice training sessions.

Where

Esbjerg, Denmark - Denmark's fifth largest city, is a prospering city of nearly 75,000 people, about 300 km (185 miles) west of Denmark's capital city of Copenhagen and 300 km north of Hamburg, Germany.  Hosted in Granly Hockey Arena, a beautiful two sheet facility that recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation and is home to Esbjerg Energy, the local professional team.  This will be Planet Hockey's 9th consecutive year in Esbjerg.  We are excited for another amazing event with our incredible Danish hockey friends!

Who

You!  We have enjoyed sharing this incredible hockey education and family hockey experience with amazing hockey families for more than 20 years.  This event involves enthusiastic hockey coaches, players and families from Sweden, Slovakia, Norway, Finland, Croatia, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Canada, Serbia, USA.  Hosted by EIK (Esbjerg Ishockey Klub) of Denmark.

Accommodations

  • Included for all participants from July 28-August 5, 2023.

  • Players stay with amazing Esbjerg Ishockey Klub (EIK) hockey host families (2-3 PH players per house).  Host families will have a player(s) in the same age division. 

  • Non-Players (accompanying family members, coaches and Planet Hockey staff) stay at partner hotel  - Scandic Hotel.

    • Hotel lodging based on double or triple occupancy (2 or 3 per room). Single room upgrade available +$599.​

  • Bike rental - most/all non-players rent a bike for the week through Planet Hockey and arranged by Hotel Britannia.  It is the best way to get around.  Bike rental information provided to all participants in April.

  • Meals - Parents - all meals except lunch and 1 dinner are included.  Players - all meals are included.

  • Host Family Dinner - Join your child's host family, in their home, for a great night of Danish food, spirits and hockey conversation. A tour highlight.

  • Transportation - All participants are responsible for their own air travel and transfers to/from the airport to Esbjerg. 

  • Adult Activities - include golf, wine tours, shopping, city tours, museums, pub crawls & social evenings.  We will connect you with your housing family approximately 3 months prior to the tour to meet your housing family and to begin discussing and organizing fun activities.  THIS EVENT IS AS MUCH ABOUT MOM, DAD AND FAMILY MEMBERS AS IT IS ABOUT THE PLAYER.  YOU DESERVE AN AMAZING HOCKEY VACATION TOO!

Travel Notes

  • Air Travel – airline tickets, reservations and planning is the responsibility of each participant.  You may choose to arrive early, or leave late to see other parts of Europe (many families do).

  • Two most used airport options:

    • Copenhagen (CPH):  3 hours from Esbjerg.  Options for transport to Esbjerg include train and car rental

    • Billund (BLL - Legoland):  40 minutes from Esbjerg.  Options for transport to Esbjerg include taxi, car rental, host family (this must be arranged by you in advance).

    • Other regional airports are available including Hamburg, Germany.

  • United States of America, Department of State U.S. Embassy & Consulate in the Kingdom of Denmark - view current travel information

  • Tour details and a check list of suggested ‘things’ to bring will be sent to you prior to the tour.

  • Passports are required of ALL participants.

Tour Information
Planet Hockey is currently recruiting skilled teams, players and hockey families to represent TEAM Planet Hockey at all levels (Squirt, Peewee, Bantam & Midget) in the Planet Hockey International Cup & Camp in Esbjerg, Denmark July 28-August 5, 2023.  All teams will be comprised of skilled players. Rosters/teams are limited and will be filled by qualified players on a first committed, first served basis.

Tour Objectives
To expose skilled North American players to European Hockey through Competition (Games) and Skills training (Camp) both on the ice and off the ice. Also, to provide quality European competition, training, cultural exchanges, touring and a memorable international experience for both players and family members.

Player Requirements​

  • Birth years according to Division requirements (Squirt, Peewee, Bantam, Midget).

  • Each team is allowed two 'overage' players (by one birth year).

  • Currently play at the travel/competitive level.

  • Strong individual and team skills, including character, leadership, sportsmanship and maturity.  Each player must sign and abide by the Planet Hockey Player Code of Conduct.

  • At least one parent must accompany each player. This is a first rate family hockey tour.  An 'unaccompanied fee' will be assessed to any player who is cleared to participate without accompanying family members.

  • Do players have to be invited/recruited by Planet Hockey? - No.  Roughly half the players on each of our teams are new to Planet Hockey and we welcome new players and hockey families to join us.

  • Coaches - Enter your team! Are you interested in bringing your current team or in organizing your own select team to participate in the Planet Hockey European Hockey Summit? We can accommodate up to 2 teams per division (see above) on a first come, first served basis. Please contact us.  We will follow up with you. Also, be part of the ICEP - International Coaches Education Program. Included for all coaches.

Player Conduct
We are honored, to once again be hosted by EIK (Esbjerg Ishockey Klub of Denmark).  We have conducted thousands of hockey camps & events worldwide and it is a privilege to partner with such a world-class host.  As part of our commitment to ensure excellence both on and off the ice and our arrangement with EIK Denmark, we expect that all student and accompanying family member behavior and conduct, will ensure future Planet Hockey programs.  Throughout the event, all participants are expected to behave professionally, to adhere to all event policies and to treat their fellow participants with respect.  Participants are expected to represent themselves and Planet Hockey with integrity, maturity and behavior consistent with achieving excellence.  Planet Hockey players will be expected to be gracious guests with their host families.  Thank you in advance for being a 'professional' and for being a huge part of ensuring an amazing Planet Hockey experience for all.  Behavior contrary to the above will be dealt with swiftly, not excluding expulsion without refund.

Tour Fees

  • Early Registration Special '2022 pricing' - SAVE $100 pp for registrations received before April 15th, 2023.

  • 2022 Pricing for registrations received prior to 4/15/23 - Players: $2,695. Family members (Adults): $2,695. Family members under 8: $1,395.  Expires 4/15/23

  • 2023 Pricing for registrations received after 4/15/23 - Players: $2,795. Family members (Adults): $2,755. Family members under 8: $1,495.

  • Minimum $500 deposit per person to confirm spots due on or after April 15th, 2023

  • Tour cost does not include air travel.  Parent lunches are not included, nor are drinks.

  • All Tour components subject to change. Tour schedule to be provided prior to departure.

  • Booking Airline Tickets - Each player/family is responsible for planning and booking their airline tickets. 

  • Fundraising.  Player Fundraising Letter available upon request.

  • Payment Methods:  Check, Money Order, Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover).  A 3.5% fee will be assessed to each credit card transactions. No fees charged for check or e-check transactions.

 

Deposits/Payments

  • View our 'Peace of Mind' Cancellation Policy.

  • Deposit #1 – $500 deposit per person due on or after February 1, 2023.  

  • Payment #2 - $1,000 per person due April 1, payment not due until event is confirmed.

  • Payment #3 - Final Payment due June 1 or when event is 100% confirmed.  All tour members must be paid in full.

  • Late payments subject to a 15% late fee

  • Players/families may be removed from team list and all monies forfeited for late or non-payment
